Recovery + Education = Success!

Transformations Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers has made a major donation of $10,000 to the SHARE Foundation in support of our on-going educational scholarship program. Transformations is known for its excellent diagnostics, assessments, treatment planning and medical care.

Transformations takes a holistic approach that not only treats addiction, but teaches clients how to maintain a productive lifestyle. Josh Gamaitoni, Supervisor of Community Outreach for Transformations stated, " We are honored to provide support for the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation. A central goal for Transformations is to empower our clients through education and mentoring for a life of purpose and sobriety. This dovetails perfectly with the work of the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation.

Partnering with Living Right to help support those looking to change their lives. "Clean Start" bags to help get them started.

On January 30, 2016 the SHARE Foundation along with our co-sponsors, Young People in Recovery and Palm Beach Wellness and Recovery, hosted the 2nd Annual Mark Garwood Birthday Bash and Cookout in honor of Mark’s birthday.  Over 150 people were in attendance for an afternoon of food, fellowship, and games.  The highlight of the event was the awarding of educational scholarships to four deserving young women who are solidly in recovery and eager to resume their college education.  At the inaugural cookout last year we awarded our first $5,000 scholarship to Jessie Ewing.  This year, as a result of the incredible support and generosity of the Foundation’s benefactors we awarded $5,000 grants to Cristina Farah, Kayla Reed, Morgan Taylor, and Alana Warner.   The Foundation is committed to expand our scholarship efforts throughout the coming year.  Thank you to all who contribute to and support this vital initiative.

As we approach the 1 year anniversary of Mark Garwood's passing, a live oak tree was recently planted in his memory. The tree is 25 years old and was chosen because that is the age Mark would have been this year. The name live oak comes from the fact that evergreen oaks remain green and "live" throughout winter, when other oaks are dormant and leafless. They are native to the South and live hundreds of years. Live oaks can reach 60 feet in height, with a limb spread of nearly 80 feet. Their lower limbs often sweep down towards the ground before curving up again.
Mark is forever in our hearts and we will continue to uphold his memory with the work and support through the SHARE foundation.
